WASHINGTON — Idaho politicians took a stance opposing the allocation of Lava Ridge’s wind force in a letter sent to Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Director Tracy Stone-Manning on June 18.
The BLM recently published an option that reduces the allocation by nearly a portion of the total number of turbines, but Idaho politicians still have concerns about the allocation.

U. S. Sens. Jim Risch and Mike Crapo, U. S. Reps. Mike Simpson and Russ Fulcher, Gov. Brad Little and Lt. Gov. Scott Bedke say the BLM’s recent environmental impact on the task doesn’t address considerations about Minidoka National Historic Site, grazing. , wildlife response, Idaho’s energy needs, and more.
“BLM has yet to acknowledge the gravity of those considerations or take meaningful steps to address them. The letter follows the action of Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador, who filed an appeal with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to halt the progress of Lava Ridge’s development.

The BLM has done nothing on the task since submitting its favorite decision during the final environmental review on June 6.
