With the win, the U. S. is now the only team in first place in Group A with four points to go up and a 2-0 record. Pakistan has recently been third in the organization due to Thursday’s defeat.
Aaron Jones continued his impressive performance against Canada with an excellent game, scoring one of his two sixes to take the game to a super over. Captain Monank Patel expressed his pride in his teammates after winning the Player of the Game award.
“It’s a wonderful achievement the way we played today,” Patel said, according to The Guardian. “I’m proud of the guys. We use situations very well, we play very well and we take the game deep. “”The objective was to relieve the pressure, satisfied that we got the two points. As a player, in important games you have to be up to the task”.
He also attributed the overall victory to the United States’ strong start.
“Winning the tie and taking windows in the first six overs [was crucial], we kept them calm and we knew they were going to be in danger and I felt like with 160 seconds left at the plate we had a chance,” Patel said.
The United States now has a smart chance of advancing to the Super 8 round, as the two most sensible organizations in the organization will advance. Patel and the rest of the U. S. team will now turn their attention to the team’s next match, a clash with India. on June 12.
