Moments after former President Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 counts in his New York hush case, WinRed, the Republican fundraising platform, collapsed due to an influx of supporters who flocked to the site to donate to the presumptive Republican nominee.
Minutes after the verdict, a fundraising link was posted on the Trump Crusade website that read, “I just got convicted in a rigged political witch hunt trial. . . You are the only thing standing between us and the general tyranny. “
The crusade also asked that members of Congress who had been endorsed by Trump also send the link, according to a source close to the matter. Almost instantly, it ran over, impeding WinRed for only about 30 minutes.
“Just minutes after the verdict, the virtual fundraising formula garnered a record number of followers. Traffic is so heavy that it causes intermittent delays,” Trump campaign spokesman Brian Hughes said in a statement.
“The crusade is grateful for this large outpouring of aid, because it shows that Americans saw this sham trial as political interference in the election that Biden and the Democrats wanted. President Trump is fighting to save our nation, and each and every relief point is helping to keep the fight going. November 5 is the day when Americans will give the true verdict!”
The exact amount Trump has raised since his historic conviction is unknown.
However, Trump and his supporters were not the only ones who raised money from the verdict. Democrats immediately began sending out emails asking for donations for their crusades, adding Reps. Ritchie Torres (D-N. Y. ), Wiley Nickel (D-N. C. ) and the Democratic congressional crusade committee.
