Shell suspends the on-site structure of an 820,000 t/year European biofuels plant

Shell Nederland Raffinaderij B. V. , a subsidiary of Shell plc, will temporarily suspend structural paints at its 820,000 tpa biofuels plant at the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, to ensure the finishing touch to the task and ensure its long-term competitiveness given existing market conditions. As a result, the number of contractors on site will be minimized and activity will be slowed down, helping to improve pricing and optimize the sequence of assignments.

“The temporary suspension of the on-site structure will now allow us to assess the maximum direction of advertising to move the task forward,” said Huibert Vigeveno, Shell’s director of downstream, renewable and energy solutions. “We are committed to achieving our goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, with low-carbon fuels as a key component of Shell’s strategy for us and our consumers to decarbonize in a cost-effective way,” added Vigeveno. “And we will continue to use shareholder capital in a measured and disciplined manner, generating more price with fewer emissions. “
