Cargill said no one was injured when the roof collapsed, but it was forced to shut down the facility to deal with the damage.

The company halted production to repair the damage, but some operations have resumed at the site. It said it was taking steps to minimize disruptions to its supply chain.
In a report sent to Just Food, a Cargill spokesperson said, “Over the weekend, more than 4 inches of rain fell in a short period of time and caused a portion of the roof of our beef plant in Dodge City to collapse. We are thankful that no one was hurt.

“All processed meat in our bloodless rooms and distribution center is unharmed and we will ship it to consumers this week. We safely resumed operations in our production shop and plan to do the same in our harvest shop on Friday.
“We leverage our extensive footprint in the chain to minimize disruption to consumers and producers. “
The Minnesota-based agribusiness conglomerate is said to be the largest private company in the United States in terms of revenue.
Its gross profit in 2023 will be $177 billion.
