There’s nothing better than getting new music for free, which is why we’ve partnered with Waves to offer MusicRadar Waves Berzerk players, completely free for 48 hours; however, the offer expires at 1400 BST/ 0900 EST, so you don’t want it. You may not have much time to claim yours.
Berzerk is a distortion plugin that can destroy your original signal with distortion, giving you many artistic features to convert your sounds to stereo and mono.
Waves regularly only offers free add-ons as part of their Black Friday add-on deals, so this is an apt score. Berzerk is recently on sale for $29. 99, but claim it today via our link and you probably won’t pay anything, it’s not that. You actually get something loose, but there’s really no problem with it.
Follow our link, then log in to your Waves account and your license will be added to your Waves Central app.
If you don’t already have a free Waves account, you’ll be prompted to create one and the license will be added once you sign up. Simple!
Please do not file your claim before 14:00 BST/0900 EST today (Sunday 9 June).
When Waves presented MusicRadar with the list of add-ons we could offer our readers for free, Berzerk was the unanimous choice. If you’re not convinced with a free plugin, really? So we’ve indexed five reasons why we love Berzerk, and why to love it too:
Even if you’re not sure about using it every day, a loose snap is still a loose snap. Plugins take up minimal area on your hard drive and having a selection is great when you’re preparing your most recent mix. You never know when you’ll need to hear something a little more awkward to convey that song, and we love having new toys to experiment with.
Press Berzerk on an 808 and you can replace it from a dull, lifeless tone to something super dirty. Berzerk can upload a sine wave to your original source via the comments section, drastically changing your sound, all on the same note as your 808. You can even get a cool dive bomb sound by setting an upper and lower octave, such as loading other shapes of some very genuine sounds.
Berzerk offers stereo, midrange, and aspect modes so you can add distortion to certain elements instead of processing the entire sound. If you have a melody that’s rarely very impactful, secondary processing can help you move forward without necessarily killing the sample’s original vibe. You can go a step further by combining it with dynamic processing, so that distortion is only implemented when your mid or side frequencies cross a certain volume threshold.
Berzerk is not only used to mutilate sounds, it can also be used in more sophisticated tactics to ensure the transmission of details. It works wonders on bass lines, allowing you to make your bass deliver more in smaller speakers without having to increase the gain. Dynamic processing works well here again, as you can apply distortion to only the high or low frequencies of your signal, as well as use the combination knob to match your original sound for even more flexibility.
With ten other waveforms to distort your sounds, as well as the ability to reshape them, Berzerk allows you to be truly artistic no matter what your source sounds are. It’s a flexible plugin that works with just about anything, great for when you want a little extra to highlight a sound. Also, if all else fails, you can simply press the “Go!” button. and increasing the intensity knob to absolutely replace your sound.
So what are you for? Add Berzerk to your arsenal to stay loose today.
