Aaron Jones, the greatest American player with the bat, arguably wouldn’t be intimidated by the prospect of betting on some of the game’s biggest superstars when his team takes on India in their ICC T20 World Cup Group A match in New York.
Jones, who played a role in any of the U. S. wins in the tournament, said it would be “exciting” to face the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah at Nassau County Stadium on Wednesday.
“When I was a kid, I was looking to play against the most productive players in the world and I’m definitely going to get the opportunity to do that now, so it’s exciting for me,” Jones said Tuesday.
“I’m excited to play against them, communicate with them and also beat them,” he added indifferently.
The U. S. will ride the wave of confidence that they can beat groups globally when they take the field at home, but they will face the prospect of betting in front of thousands of Indian fans.
Jones said the crowd would be ready for either team.
“We have a lot of Indian players in our team. “
Many of those Indian-born players on the American side played with some members of the Indian team and opposed them while developing in India.
“It’s the first time the U. S. has played India, so they’re really excited to play against friends,” Jones said.

Meanwhile, India plans to take the attack “lightly,” according to bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.
“You have to start winning very early,” he told reporters.
