US NRC questions EIA on North Anna nuclear plant license extension

The EIS is reviewing the supplemental environmental report submitted through Virginia Electric

Dominion is seeking an immediate license term to extend the plant’s operations from 60 to 80 years. The licenses for the North Anna reactor, located 40 miles northwest of Richmond, Virginia, recently expired in April 2038 for Unit 1 and August 2040 for the Unit. 2. The North Anna site is home to two 944 MWe pressurized water reactors, which began operation in 1978 and 1980.
