Abigail Spanberger (D-7th, Prince William, Stafford, Fredericksburg) met with city officials on the side of the railroad tracks near the crash to assess the situation and reassure the city that it hasn’t disappeared from its radar screen.
Chief Michael Jones of the Fredericksburg Fire Department stood with Spanberger and described the derailment. “The cars were loaded and the derailment occurred in a low-lying area,” he said, pointing to the area. “It can be a problem,” he said, our priority is to save lives.
