Robin Linus’ BitVM2 whitepaper is taking the Bitcoin network by storm, thanks to its comprehensive explanation of a layer-2 cumulative solution that makes dapp deployment on Bitcoin possible. This article is a continuation of Linus’ previous article detailing BitVM, which led to a series of cumulative responses evolved to make Bitcoin programming possible. So far, there are at least 83 responses related to rollups created through developers of all kinds.
The existing iteration was co-written by Lukas Aumayr, Andrea Pelosi, Zeta Avarikioti, Matteo Maffe, and Alexei Zamyatin along with Linus. It describes an improved edition of how the rollup works, which can run systems on Bitcoin transactions that employ advanced cryptography. This allows systems to be divided into subroutines to make innovations imaginable and exceed the limits of its predecessor, BitVM.
BitVM2 will use positive accrual and zk-SNARK technologies with the goal of verifying transactions at Layer 2. The whitepaper says: “In essence, BitVM2 exploits positive computation, assuming that traders are fair unless they show themselves different through challengers through fraud testing and SNARK testing verification scripts, which are divided into subroutines executed on Bitcoin transactions. As a result, BitVM2 promises program accuracy with only 3 on-chain operations.
Additionally, transaction verifications of this style are permissionless and open to anyone who wants to dispute a Layer 2 transaction that they deem contrary to Bitcoin’s rules. Previously, a select set of operators carried out this process, according to how the rollup responds. paintings in the blockchain ecosystem, adding those that operate as Ethereum layer 2. Verification can be done on 3 Bitcoin transactions employing the BitVM2 design, compared to the 70 transactions BitVM can perform.
BitVM2 also envisions a bridge that connects Layer 2 rollup responses to Bitcoin, ensuring that Bitcoin is transferred between the main chain and rollups, and vice versa, securely. This new iteration will bring Layer 2 as add-ons to the existing Bitcoin network without the need. for major Bitcoin developers to replace the code so that the answers are compatible.
