ASHEBORO, N. C. (AP) — Guns were discovered at the site of former President Donald Trump’s rally in Asheboro on Wednesday, and a user was arrested after the incident, according to Asheboro Police Department officials.
Police said an incident occurred outside the event venue around 4:30 p. m. after the demonstration ended and people left. Officers immediately arrested the suspect and began investigating.
Throughout the investigation, police said they concluded that in an obvious incident of road rage, a gun was brandished from inside a vehicle, but it was not pointed at anyone.
Authorities also said the suspect threatened someone.
The suspect, known as Robert Castona Jr. , 79, was charged with violating North Carolina General Statute 14-277. 2, which prohibits carrying weapons in parades and other similar events.
Castona won a summons and was released pending his Sept. 16 hearing date.
