At 23 years old, Emma Pillemer has already made her mark in the world of jewelry. The designer introduced the Emma Pills costume jewellery collection in 2020, where her colourful and irreverent styles caught the attention of Australian online retailers. It continued at Australian Fashion Week, where in 2021, Pillemer became the youngest designer to show her work. By 2022, Emma Pills has expanded globally with a second warehouse in California and coveted outlets in Revolution and Anthropology.
Pillemer’s artistic adventure began as a young ballerina, where she made beaded tutus in competitions across Australia before starring in Made In Bondi, a spin-off of Made In Chelsea, where her jewellery played a key role. Today, his pieces reflect this same colorful energy: that of color, fantasy and joy. Pillemer, a committed “Swifttie” and passionate philanthropist, will donate 50% of the proceeds from her Candy OG earrings to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, in honor of a cause close to her heart.
We caught up with Pillemer to explore the inspiration for Emma Pills and the next phase of her journey.
I come from a circle of strong, empowered women who have enjoyed jewelry, design, and creation, but improvements in value and color were one of the main reasons I created the brand. I found myself struggling to find designs that I enjoyed.
I love to express my individuality and taste through jewelry. Color gives women a sense of individuality and confidence in their daily lives and I had a hard time finding those types of designs, so I designed my first pair of earrings, the OG ones in other colors and, after being exhausted, I held on to my dream. and focus on design.
Emma Pills has a unique aesthetic driven through my love of fashion. I love designing and creating pieces. I love vintage fashion and jewelry so I definitely get inspired through it. Jewelry This is definitely the ultimate fashion accessory for each and every woman.
Vibrant colors are embedded in Emma Pills aethetics and DNA. Over the years, I have also evolved and developed a love for minimalism but have combined my love of color with creating minimal pieces with a vibrant feel. Every piece in the collection exudes confidence, which I feel is really what the aesthetics of the brand is – confidence in every piece. As I always say “Wear Emma Pills for increased confidence.”
This again is something I love and evolve through time. What doesn’t change is the way I see design and where I draw my inspiration from. I will always start with an idea, a piece, a shape and I will then add color or texture. I will then sit down with the team after I have a set base collection on paper with colors, shapes and ideas as well as names. I think names for my designs are so important and help tell the stories. We will then sit and start sampling and building collections. These ideas often spiral into something bigger or sometimes just leads me to more design development.
Without a doubt the use of color, enamels, combination of other metals and color finishes. We use recycled metals to create new designs. These profile Emma Pills.
It is very difficult to choose. I feel like my creations are like my children. My first drawing will be sentimental for me. OGS are easy-to-wear, stackable earrings that are available in many colors. They have become a bestseller at Revolve. There is nothing I like more than seeing someone using my pills. Today in New York I saw a lovely girl wearing Square AF Capri earrings. It is a woven end on a square pole animated by Capri beach chairs. She looked so beautiful, so today those are my favorites.
I think in an overly saturated market, people want to stand out with something to style that pulls an outfit together. The Sunkissed Necklace (a textured shell on a chunky chain) pulls any beach-to-bar look together. My Red Hot Hearts earrings or necklace give a pop of red to any outfit which is so empowering.
I want to do more, design more, bring out exciting innovative pieces. I don’t want what’s already out there. I’m all about creating fun, confident designs and I honestly think that’s what Emma Pills is all about. We don’t want basic jewelry. It’s all about exciting jewelry.
I recently designed the Pearls n Pills collection for my sister’s wedding. This is a very ambitious design of pearls and crystals with recycled shiny silver.
It’s been over 3 years since the logo was released and I feel like it’s evolving every day. It’s all about layering, stacking, and loving ambitious jewelry. I think my plan for the next five years is to offer cuts. cutting-edge jewelry to other people who have the same love for jewelry and fashion as we do. This means new markets, more pop-ups, more collaborations and an evolution of design. The next five years will be full of goals. I am sure that we are on the right track to reach them.
