Milan kicked off the fashion calendar with an exhibition of menswear brands that brought to life the designers’ visions for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2025-2026 season. With a variety of collections to analyze, it can be a daunting task to find a consistent collection. guide between so many styles. But among the shows, pop-up events and presentations of the past week, some themes have resurfaced. Read on to get started and see what designers predict will be the dominant finishes by the end of the year.
The monochromatic collections remain relevant as designers opt for a singular color palette to keep things clean, simple, and elegant. With no color or trend to depend on, designers had to play with the shape and fabric of their clothes, resulting in streamlined offerings. Certainly encouraged by urban professionals, the Italian logo has produced a number of garments that are undeniably modern (beige puffer jackets paired with beige turtleneck sweaters and wool trousers), but accessible enough to motivate their own. wardrobe this autumn.
A common misconception about a monochromatic palette is that it must be neutral, but Canali proves otherwise. Rather than relying solely on neutrals, the brand layered various shades of blue in certain looks. While remaining well within the bounds of tonal dressing, Canali crafted a collection that, at first glance, appears uniform. However, a closer look reveals that each garment plays against one another. It’s no surprise, then, that interior spaces and the home served as inspiration for this collection. After all, any skilled interior designer will tell you it’s the subtle contrasts—not the uniformity—that truly draw the eye.
It was Zegna who perfectly demonstrated how a tonal wardrobe can effortlessly balance taste with unpretentious ease. At her fashion show, which took place on lush green hills rather than a classic runway and featured an appearance by actor John Turturro, models wore layered jumpsuits of plaid, satin and knits, all limited to a lively palette across the Australian landscape. This fusion of nature-encouraged hues with the comfortable compatibility of Zegna has received critical acclaim and is a treat that can easily take a place in your wardrobe this year.
In recent years, clothing has moved away from fitted silhouettes and this year’s designers have fully embraced that change. Designers swapped out narrow cuts for silhouettes reminiscent of the ’90s with loaded flowing fabrics. This didn’t add some pizzazz to the show, but it also serves as a clear indication of where men’s fashion is headed.
Giorgio Armani turns out to be leading the pack in building a wardrobe that is oversized or understated. Focusing on building a full silhouette on the models, Armani layered coats with loose pants, chunky fabrics underneath oversized suit jackets, and unstructured cuts that hang from the models in the best combination of boldness and sophistication. Accessories such as scarves and beanies further enhanced the look, emphasizing a “more is more” strategy for bold, cohesive silhouettes.
If suiting isn’t your thing, don’t worry—Woolrich Black Label by Todd Snyder offers an alternative that might be more your style. Leaning into casual, everyday wear, the collection highlights buffalo plaid, cargo pants, and relaxed knits as its centerpiece. While still being elevated and less form-fitting than perhaps past seasons, this more approachable take on the oversized trend is easier to adopt for those who want to stay on trend without investing too much into their wardrobe.

The last, and perhaps most liberating, trend to look forward to this fall is dressing for oneself. Miuccia Prada and her co-creative director Raf Simons tapped into individuality to create their latest collection, which showcases male models in various states of dress—or, at times, undress. From broken-in knitwear to clashing patterns (unexpectedly paired with floral cowboy boots and basketball-themed bracelets), Prada’s Fall-Winter show brings personality and humor to the runway.

As fun as this collection is, it reminds us that fashion doesn’t want to be subtle or limited to classic rules; it can be concretely personal. According to Prada, this specific collection represented for her our instinctive technique for dressing: prioritizing what we find elegant to what we are told to wear. This is evident in models worn with shirtless cuts or asymmetrical leather elements that look randomly and deliberately made.
So, when in doubt this year, dig into your wardrobe and let your instincts guide your clothing choice. You’ll marvel at a runway-worthy look, all without spending a dime.
